Managing the global data tsunami

Today’s digital economy is dependent on data centres that store data from billions of users  consuming Gigawatts of electricity and vast amounts of data center space. Energy consumption has a high infrastructure cost – regardless of whether it comes from renewables or fossil fuels. If the present rate of growth in demand for data storage continues, experts predict it will account for 10% of the world’s energy consumption by 2025.
